About Osborn Neighborhood Alliance

Our Mission

To provide information and access to opportunities for Osborn residents and our neighbors across the City of Detroit. We do this through Business Development, Housing and Neighborhood Development, and Community initiatives around infrastructure, access, youth programming, bridging the digital divide, and building strong partnerships. We seek out and engage in opportunities to improve quality of life in our community.

Our History
The Osborn Neighborhood Alliance (ONA) was established in 2010 with support from the Skillman Foundation's Good Neighborhoods Initiative. ONA serves as the voice of the Osborn community, focusing on advocacy, planning, and facilitation. Trusted and respected by community residents, ONA is recognized as a premier knowledge broker in the area. The organization has been led by Quincy Jones, its Executive Director, for over 14 years. In 2015, ONA expanded its impact by launching the Osborn Business Association (OBA) to support and strengthen local businesses in the neighborhood. In 2022, the organization began addressing technological inequity through its Digital Divide efforts, working to increase internet access and digital literacy in the community.

Our Areas of Impact

Human Development

Organizational Development

Organizational Development

Osborn’s greatest strength is its people. Supporting residents—youth, families, seniors, and returning citizens—creates the foundation for a safer, healthier, and more connected community. Human development ensures that every person has access to opportunities, support networks, and pathways to personal and family stability.

Our Approach:
We invest in programs that enhance skills, leadership, wellbeing, and resilience. From youth enrichment to family support and community wellness initiatives, we meet residents where they are and help them move toward where they want to be. Our work centers dignity, empowerment, and long-term growth.

Strong neighborhoods require strong organizations. Many resident groups, block clubs, and grassroots organizations exist in Osborn, but they often lack the tools, training, or support necessary to scale their impact. By strengthening these community anchors, we amplify the overall capacity of the neighborhood.

Our Approach:
We build the capacity of local organizations through training, technical assistance, collaboration networks, and shared resources. We help block clubs become more active, support leaders in navigating city systems, promote resident-led models, and ensure community partners are aligned, informed, and connected.

The physical environment shapes how safe, valued, and hopeful residents feel. Beautification, blight reduction, safe mobility, parks, and public spaces all influence quality of life. When the physical condition improves, community pride grows—and so do opportunities for health, recreation, and investment.

Our Approach:
We work with residents, city partners, and volunteers to improve the built environment through cleanups, lot activation, home repair initiatives, safety lighting projects, and green space improvements. We uplift resident ideas for transforming vacant spaces into community assets and improving the overall look and feel of Osborn.
